Benson Theatre and Soundarte.net proudly present a unique event featuring four incredible sound artists, each bringing their distinct style to Omaha, Nebraska. This evening promises an unforgettable experience of deep listening, sound art, and ambient music.

Things I Tell You
Members: Tres Johnson and Becki Murabito
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Description: Things I Tell You is an innovative duo from Omaha, comprising Tres Johnson and Becki Murabito. Becki plays the theremin, creating eerie, otherworldly sounds, while Tres uses synthesizers controlled by house plants to generate ambient soundscapes. Their performances blend drone, ambient, and electronic sounds with a touch of dub, making for a truly unique auditory experience. Tres Johnson, a multi-talented artist, is also a DJ and owner of a magic and plants shop called drips, where he combines his love for art, music, great coffee and nature.

Stacey Barelos
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Description: Stacey Barelos is a renowned pianist and composer based in Omaha. She is known for her avant-garde performances and innovative compositions that often incorporate unconventional instruments and techniques. Stacey’s work spans a diverse range of styles, from classical to experimental, making her a standout figure in the sound art community. Her performances are celebrated for their creativity and ability to push the boundaries of traditional music.

Sohl
Location: León, Mexico
Description: Sohl is an experimental sound artist from León, Mexico. His innovative approach to music combines elements of sound art and ambient music, creating immersive and captivating auditory experiences. Sohl’s performances are known for their ability to transport listeners to new auditory dimensions, making him a highly sought-after artist in the international sound art scene.

Weathering (Veronica Salinas)
Location: San Antonio, TX.
Description: Weathering is the music project of Veronica Salinas, known for creating mesmerizing soundscapes that blend deep listening techniques with ambient and electronic elements. Weathering’s performances promise an ethereal and immersive auditory experience, making Veronica a standout artist in the field of sound art and ambient music.

Featuring a sound art installation by Tob, a distinguished sound artist known for his innovative work in modular synthesis and interactive sound installations. At this event, Tob will present a captivating installation based on modular synthesis and light sensors. His installation will be featured during the cocktail reception and in the intermissions between each performance, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with sound art in an interactive and immersive manner. Tob’s work adds a dynamic layer to the evening, enhancing the overall experience and showcasing the versatility and creativity of contemporary sound art.

    Enjoy a complimentary cocktail and mingle with fellow attendees and artists. Explore the interactive sound sculptures in
    the lobby.
  • 7:00 PM: Things I Tell You
    Experience the ambient and electronic sounds of this Omaha duo as they kick off the evening.
  • Intermission: Take a break, refresh your drink, and interact with the artists and sound sculptures.
  • 8:00 PM: Stacey Barelos
    Enjoy a unique performance from Stacey Barelos, blending classical techniques with avant-garde sound art.
  • Intermission: Another opportunity to mingle and explore the lobby installations.
  • 8:40 PM: Sohl
    Be transported by the innovative and experimental sounds of Sohl from Mexico.
  • Intermission: Final chance to grab a drink and engage with the artists.
  • 9:15 PM: Weathering
    Conclude the evening with a mesmerizing set by Veronica Salinas’s project, Weathering, taking you on a deep listening journey.

Ticket Information:

  • Single Act Tickets: $10 per act
  • Full Event Ticket: $25

Parking Information:

  • There is a loading zone directly in front of the theatre that you are welcome to use to drop off passengers or theatre patrons. Please observe that you cannot remain in the loading zone for more than 3 minutes. If you require assistance unloading or helping patrons inside, please feel free to ask at our Box Office when you arrive.
  • Parking for Benson Theatre shows is available in the following locations:
  • Cavanaugh Law Offices: This parking lot is available weekends and weekdays after 5 PM. It’s located behind the theatre (north) at 6035 Binney Street. When parking is available, you will see a Benson Theatre parking sign at the edge of the lot.
  • CHI Health Clinic:  This parking lot is available Monday-Friday after 6 PM and Saturday-Sunday after 3 PM. It’s located in the southwest of the theatre at 2734 N. 61st Street. When parking is available, you will see a Benson Theatre parking sign at the edge of the lot.
  • Public Parking Lot: A free public parking lot is located at 2729 N 61st Street. This lot is first come, first serve and is not managed by Benson Theatre. Please obey the parking lot signage when using this lot.
  • On-Street Parking: Benson also has on-street parking with some restrictions. There is a 2-hour maximum from 8 AM-5 PM on Maple Street and Military Avenue. There is no parking allowed on these streets between 2 AM-6 AM. 
  • Please note: The lot directly behind the theatre is not open for theatre parking. This lot is the property of Haney Shoe Store (located off Binney street in the back of Haney’s Shoe Store and Virtuoso Pizza).
  • We also highly recommend and encourage the use of carpooling to events with friends and family and multimodal transportation to reduce the difficulty in finding parking for an event. On weekend evenings especially, we suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early to allow ample time to find parking. Once you’re here, you can always hit one of the amazing restaurants for a pre-show bite or grab a drink at our lobby bar before the show!
