Omaha Comedy Fest 2024

September 27 & 28, 2024

Benson Theatre

Various

Running Time: Each show runs about 1 hour

National Improv Block w/ Mission IMPROVableFriday, September 27, 2024, 7:00pm

This block features three improv teams from across the country:

Mission IMPROVable is one of the longest running short form improv shops in the country, touring internationally and having a home show at The Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica, CA. These secret agents of comedy will blast off with high energy, interactive comedy that will leave the audience breathless.

With a focus on experimental improv forms, Lab Mates is always brewing up something new to share. And now they are taking their chemistry on the road to present the “Three Insane Rituals”: Deconstruction, F.O.I.L. and Rolling Harold back-to-back-to-back. Previous Lab Mates shows have tackled the Scramble and the Harold in the form of AMHAP (As Many Harolds As Possible).

Mouse Couch is a trio from Denver Colorado that has been performing long form improvisation together since December 2017. We describe the style of our play as “fluid masons”. “Fluid” in that we move seamlessly and fluidly between scenes (aka no sweeps!). “Masons” in that we strive to build every scene one brick at a time so that we can discover everything together, along with the audience.

Queer Comedy HourSaturday, September 28, 2024, 7:00pm

Featuring two of the Fests many queer identifying comedy acts, Idiot Bitch (improv) and Queerish (sketch) will showcase their unique perspectives and leave the audience laughing.

Idiot Bitch is a queer and femme twosie improv team hailing from St. Louis, Missouri. Established in 2022, IB has enjoyed many seasons as a House Team of The Improv Shop. Alayna and Leslie perform a monoscene with a little chat at the top, because they’re friends and they love each other. They emphasize playing with emotion, strong relationships, and following the fun.

Queerish is a sketch comedy group that explores the human experience in the 21st century. Some of them are queer, some of them are not. Hence the “ish”.

About the Fest

Omaha Comedy Fest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering Omaha comedy fans unparalleled access to intimate shows and hilarious experiences with established and emerging comedians from across the country. We curate and produce comedy experiences with the goal of enriching indie arts and entertainment in the metro, offering comedic education for those craving a creative outlet, and celebrating humor in all its expressions.

Founded in 2013 by Dylan Rohde, the grassroots festival is now powered by a team of Omaha comedians bringing more than 50 must-see acts to the metro every year. Join us September 26-29, 2024.

Parking Information:

  • There is a loading zone directly in front of the theatre that you are welcome to use to drop off passengers or theatre patrons. Please observe that you cannot remain in the loading zone for more than 3 minutes. If you require assistance unloading or helping patrons inside, please feel free to ask at our Box Office when you arrive.
  • Parking for Benson Theatre shows is available in the following locations:
  • Cavanaugh Law Offices: This parking lot is available weekends and weekdays after 5 PM. It’s located behind the theatre (north) at 6035 Binney Street. When parking is available, you will see a Benson Theatre parking sign at the edge of the lot.
  • CHI Health Clinic:  This parking lot is available Monday-Friday after 6 PM and Saturday-Sunday after 3 PM. It’s located in the southwest of the theatre at 2734 N. 61st Street. When parking is available, you will see a Benson Theatre parking sign at the edge of the lot.
  • Public Parking Lot: A free public parking lot is located at 2729 N 61st Street. This lot is first come, first serve and is not managed by Benson Theatre. Please obey the parking lot signage when using this lot.
  • On-Street Parking: Benson also has on-street parking with some restrictions. There is a 2-hour maximum from 8 AM-5 PM on Maple Street and Military Avenue. There is no parking allowed on these streets between 2 AM-6 AM.
  • Please note: The lot directly behind the theatre is not open for theatre parking. This lot is the property of Haney Shoe Store (located off Binney street in the back of Haney’s Shoe Store and Virtuoso Pizza).
  • We also highly recommend and encourage the use of carpooling to events with friends and family and multimodal transportation to reduce the difficulty in finding parking for an event. On weekend evenings especially, we suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early to allow ample time to find parking. Once you’re here, you can always hit one of the amazing restaurants for a pre-show bite or grab a drink at our lobby bar before the show!
