Benalto Film Series: The Women Who Ran
The Benalto Film Series brings the classics back to life with screenings of films from the Criterion Collection between 1921-1971, curated by local filmmakers, movie buffs and historians. After the screening they will lead us through conversation and audience talk backs on the films that made Hollywood blossom.
In honor of Women’s History Month, the The League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha is hosting a screening of Joshua Labure’s The Women Who Ran.
The Women Who Ran is an intimate portrait of the history making Omahans who ran for local office in 2021. For the first time in Omaha, Nebraska’s history, women candidates from all political parties are aiming for every seat on the City Council and the Mayor’s office.
Providing a raw look behind the scenes with those change makers and their campaigns, The Women Who Ran showcases the candidates and the community they hope to represent. Is Omaha ready for change? What does the future look like with more women in leadership? The Women Who Ran inspires residents of Omaha and beyond to ask these questions and reflect on the need for more than the status quo.
Join us for the film on Wednesday, March 20th at the Benson Theatre. Doors at 6:30pm, film at 7:00. After the hour-long screening we’ll have a short Q&A the filmmaker himself, Joshua LaBure.
