On Writing Presents: Maddie Radcliff
Every Second Tuesday of the Month join us for a special, initimate reading with local authors of all walks of life. This month we’re elated to welcome our very own Co-Executive Director, Maddie Radcliff, to share a special reading of her newest play, Ye Strange and Tragic Trial of Elizabeth Cornell.
Set over the course of the four months leading from winter to spring in 1693, Elizabeth and her sister Sarah navigate life with their father after their mother’s death in colonial Rhode Island. Based on a true story of Maddie’s direct ancestors, Elizabeth faces prosecution for a crime in a system not built to protect women or truth.
Maddie Radcliff is a theatre professional born and raised in Omaha, NE. She has been involved in Omaha’s community theater scene since 2005 and performed on a wide variety of stages including Shelterbelt Theatre, Firebelly Rep, Benson Theatre/Brigit Saint Brigit, BLUEBARN Theatre, and Omaha Community Playhouse where we had a five year run as Mrs. Fezziwig in Omaha’s beloved A Christmas Carol. Maddie’s journey as a playwright began with her first play being selected for the Great Plains Theatre Conference in 2007. Since then Maddie has had three other plays featured at the Conference, and four shows produced in the Omaha area. Her most recent production was The Curious Disappearance of Mulder, The Cat at the PS Collective. During the day, Maddie is still at the theater – acting as the Co-Executive Director of Benson Theatre where she finds immense joy bringing the passions and visions of local creators to life.
