Never been to an OSSO show before? Welcome, wanderer! Here are a few things to know:
We are a community of joyful actors who are serious about Shakespeare. Over the course of just one month, we immerse ourselves in our lines and roles, culminating in a single rehearsal before we bring the magic to life in bars and event spaces throughout Omaha.
At OSSO, there’s no traditional stage—our performances unfold right in the heart of the audience, creating an intimate and immersive experience you won’t forget!
Pro tip: Arrive early! Since we perform in spaces that also welcome regular patrons, we often reach capacity—sometimes an hour before showtime!
All shows are first come, first served, with a suggested donation of $20 per person. Come be part of the experience!

ABOUT OLD SCHOOL SHAKESPEARE OMAHA

Old School Shakespeare Omaha (OSSO) was established in 2022 to bring dynamic and accessible Shakespeare performances to audiences in public spaces throughout Omaha. Since its inception, OSSO has produced a total of 7 Shakespeare plays with 18 performances in 8 public venues. At the heart of OSSO’s process is its unique approach: Serious Actors. No
Director. One Rehearsal. In a Bar. This approach originated with the Back Room Shakespeare Project in Chicago, which has been performing in this style since 2011.

In 2023, OSSO partnered with Benson Theatre, eschewing the stage and bringing
Shakespeare’s “Much Ado about Nothing” to life in and among the audience seating. The success of the first partnership has resulted in an OSSO performance at Benson Theatre for every production since.
