On Exhibit in December: The Unreal Wild
BENSON – Benson Theatre is pleased to host “The Unreal Wild” by Dwight Nysewander and Chase Bobier during the month of December at The B Side of Benson Theatre, 6058 Maple Street.
The opening reception is Friday, Dec. 7, from 6:00 to 9:00pm in conjunction with Benson First Friday. It’s free and open to the public.
The artists describe the show as animal, cross-cultural and sci-fi mythical-themed work.
Nysewander has been painting and drawing since he was young. During the last few years, he’s also spent his time on organic gardening and house renovations. After stepping away from the canvas for a few years, Nysewander is re-exploring his art.
His love for the natural world and a hope-filled future inspires his creations and spurs him toward building on the balance of truth and myth found in his work. Nysewander borrows from many cultures and time periods, and layers them into his paintings. It’s seemingly familiar and yet otherworldly. His intent is to inspire others to create their own vision of the future.
Bobier has been drawn to the arts since he can remember. He currently works full time in the medical staffing industry by day but is always taking advantage of opportunities that allow him to grow, explore and push his art in new directions.
Bobier mostly considered himself a pencil-and-charcoal artist until he shifted his focus to oil painting in the last decade. His love of color and the different emotions he hopes they elicit are central to his art. His most recent work draws inspiration from the natural world with an emphasis on what could be hiding within and sometimes beyond the subjects on the canvas.
