Opening Reception: Katie B Temple
May 4, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Benson Theatre is pleased to showcase the work of visual artist Katie B Temple during the month of May at the B Side of Benson Theatre, 6058 Maple St. The opening reception will be held Friday, May 4th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
ABOUT THE WORK
The artist’s paintings are inspired by the 15 different buildings she has lived in throughout her life. Katie states, “I call them buildings because they never felt like home. Every dormitory, apartment complex, townhome, or multi-family house I have ever lived in was a rental and it was a just a place I went to when I was not somewhere else. The paintings that I create reflect my continuous search for “home” as an adult. Some pieces contain layers of multiple buildings to reflect my journey from moving from one place to another, while other pieces contain single buildings to reflect on a memory of living in a particular place or structure.”
