The Encampments

A Film Screening and Faith-Based Panel Discussion

Presented by the Nebraskans for Peace Palestinian Rights Task Force Interfaith Committee

On October 11, 2025, we invite you to join us for a screening of The Encampments at the Benson Theater, followed by a faith-based panel discussion featuring student encampment participants.

The Encampments is a documentary film that chronicles the student encampments established at Columbia University in New York City in April 2024, which formed in protest of the university’s ties to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. The panel discussion will feature Columbia encampment participants of various faith traditions, providing a unique, intimate, faith-based angle on the uprising that ignited a nationwide student movement in solidarity with Palestine.

The Nebraskans for Peace Palestinian Rights Task Force Interfaith Committee is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization composed of Nebraskans of multiple faith traditions. We struggle in principled solidarity for a free and liberated Palestine. Our mission is rooted in the theological and political conviction that Palestinians have a right to freedom, dignity, and self-determination. To this end, we work primarily within, and speak to, our respective faith traditions to counteract Zionism, the genocidal policies of the Israeli state, and the unconditional support of the U.S. government for Israel’s ongoing settler colonialism, occupation, and apartheid. 

TICKET TIERS

(Prices below are the base price and do not reflect tax and ticket handling fees)

$4.17 – This number (4/17) represents the date that the first student encampment was established on the South Lawn at Columbia University: April 17, 2024. This ticket admits one person and is intended to make the event economically accessible to a wider range of people interested.

$14.00 – Fourteen (14) is the total number of days that student encampments occupied the South Lawn before they were dismantled by university personnel. This recommended ticket price admits one person but also helps to cover the cost of the venue rental and film licensing fee.

$46.00 – Forty-six (46) protestors occupied “Hind’s Hall,” an academic building renamed after the slain six-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab. This ticket admits one person and helps to cover the cost of less expensive tickets, venue rental, film licensing fee, snacks, and publicity.

$130.00 – Over 130 student encampments were established nationwide in the spring of 2024 according to a report by Harvard Kennedy School. This ticket admits one person and contributes toward the cost of the overall event, including the airfare, lodging, and meals of our panelists.

$217.00 – At least 217 protestors were arrested at Columbia’s encampments, the most since the student protests against the Vietnam War and gentrification of Harlem in 1968. This ticket admits one person, helps cover the cost of the event, and all remaining proceeds go to HEAL Palestine.

Note: all funds raised through ticketing will go towards the costs of the event. All additional proceeds will be donated to HEAL Palestine, a non-profit organization delivering urgent relief and long-term support to Palestinian children and families, including essential healthcare, educational support, humanitarian aid, and leadership development opportunities.
