2018-19 NWC Youth Poetry Slam Schedule Announced
BENSON – The Nebraska Writers Collective, a Benson Theatre community partner, has announced the dates for its 2018-19 Youth Poetry Slam Series, titled “Lettuce Turnip The Beet.”
All performances will be held at The B Side of Benson Theatre, 6058 Maple Street. Sign up will start each evening at 5:30pm, and the open mic format will begin at 6:00pm. The events are open to the public, and admission is a suggested $2 per person at the door. The schedule:

The series, an activity of the organization’s Great Plains: Louder Than A Bomb program, pairs Omaha’s most accomplished poets with students from 40-plus Nebraska and Iowa high schools and mentors them from September through April each year. It gives the students a chance to write, revise and rehearse original performance poetry.
