RESPECT’s goals are to decrease acts of bullying, but, even more important, to empower kids and adults who may be on the sidelines to take action and stand up to help a target. Their programs, which use theater presentations and panel/group discussions led by community professionals and actor-educators, focus on the prevention of abusive relationship dynamics (those found in bullying, child abuse, dating violence, relational aggression, domestic violence, animal abuse and sexual harassment) among children and youth.
RESPECT works with students, parents, educators and community members to overcome bullying by coming up with their own solutions and methods for making their schools and environments comfortable and safe places. The Benson Theatre will provide RESPECT with a space to offer its interactive workshops to help inform the community and empower it to develop solutions to this growing issue.
